This year’s World Mountain Running Trophy Race will be held in Sabah, Malaysia on September 18 (senior women, approximately 8K uphill/downhill race) and September 19 (senior men, approximately 15K uphill/downhill race). The US team is comprised of 4 women (3 score) and 6 men (4 score). The team is selected based on road race performances (events under 15K primarily), trail and mountain running race results, international competition, and placing at the USATF New England Mountain Running Championships in Stratton Mountain, Vermont on June 26. The top two US male finishers and the top female finisher at the NE Mountain Running Championships will receive automatic berths on the team. Remaining team members will be selected by the end of June based on their running resumes.

The US team receives partial travel funding (approximately $200) from USATF and the IAAF combined and team apparel and uniforms from USATF. The host country provides meals and lodging during the event.
