Directions: Take either Tanque Verde Road or Sunrise Drive to
Sabino Canyon road and head North to Sabino Canyon. The Forest
Service now charges a $5 parking fee to park in the parking lot.
Trail Information: From the South side of the parking lot, head to
Bear Canyon. Follow the trail head signs to Phoneline/Blacketts Ridge.
This trail has a gradual elevation gain and traverses the mountain. Can be
rocky at times, after an initial elevation gain, it is a rolling terrain with
scenic views of Sabino Canyon. It is 9 miles roundtrip, and you can return
via the trail or take the paved road back down to the parking lot.
(You would have to share the road with an occasional tourist tram.)
