Directions: From 295 south on
Jacksonville, take the Blanding boulevard exit, going
south toward Middleburg. Go about 6-7 miles to county road 220a You
will see the signs directing you to Jennings state forest.
Take a right onto a sandy dirt road, and about a mile
on the left is a parking area and trailhead. There is a restroom and
picnic area there.
Trail Information: The North
Fork Black Creek trail is a
mix of sandy open Florida forest, and swampy bottom land. The North Fork
Black Creek loop is about 5 miles. some small up and down hills, with some
swampy bottom to cross through. There is a primitive campsite, about 2.5
miles (half way) through the loop. A fee is required for this.
Miscellaneous Information: There are also numerous equestrian trails, some are
10-20 mile loops. Also, plenty of fire roads criss-cross the forest. Down
the road from this trailhead is an interpretive trail, called the fire and water
trail. Bring water, or a way to filter it. occasional small streams
are crossed. Also, look out for ticks!
