Directions: Take 63rd St. (South) for quite a ways. Then turn
right on Brown's Woods Road. Follow for a while and Walnut Woods State Park is on
the right side of the road.
Trail Information: A secluded dirt trail runs through the State
Park winding through many acres of camp sites and woods. It also runs right along
the Racoon River. The softness is very welcome, especially after logging many miles
on the harsh pavement of Des Moines.
Miscellaneous Information: Footing can be rough in spots and many
walnuts (thus the name of the park) can be potential hazards. Nothing too bad that
makes it not worth the time.
