Directions: McCarthur Blvd toward Potomac. Continue under the 495
overpass of the American Legion Bridge. The entrance to the trail is accross
from the Old Angler' Inn.
Trail Information: The Billy Goat Trail is awesome! Popular for
hikers it is beginning to become popular for trail runners looking for a chanllenge. It is
a two mile (one way) trail off the tow path that winds through the woods toward the
Potomac River cliffs. Use caution, the flat runs come as intervals between stretches
of bouldering, scrambing and even scaling a horizontal stone wall. At the end you
can either turn around and head back, or take the tow path back to the parking lot.
Miscellaneous Information: Very crowded on weekends but great
after/before work. You'll see deer, blue heron, turkey buzzards, beavers, skinks and
other wild life during the run.
