Directions: Go to Four Corners and head south on Hwy. 191. Drive 20 miles
to the Lava Lake Trailhead sign and take a right. Continue 0.2 miles on the
gravel road to the parking area.
Trail Information: This is a killer! Amazing but steep trail to Lava Lake
-- beautiful single-track that parallels Cascade Creek through forest and
wildflowers for 3 miles to the lake. Rocks on the trail provide an obstacle
course as you approach the top -- switchbacks open out and level to a great
campground and the lake itself. Enjoy the view of Spanish Peaks and cool off
before the return trip all the way down.
Miscellaneous Information: The creek and lake provide plenty of water for the dogs. This trail is heavily used by hikers and is really busy on weekends.
