Directions: Approximately 4 miles west of downtown Bend on Newport
Ave. (which turns into Shevlin Park Rd.). Look for the main parking area on the left
(South) side of the road.
Trail Information: This is a compacted dirt trail with exceptional
footing, which winds through a gorgeous wilderness park. The primary trail is
completely shaded by large pine trees and loops around the park, at times following a
pristine creek. Many variations off the main 5 mile loop allows the runner to vary
distances and difficulty. Beware of your bearings if you explore the unmarked trails and
interconnecting Forest Service roads. It is easy to get turned around until you become
familiar with the area.
Miscellaneous Information: Additional loops can be started from the
upper, unmarked parking lot (also on the South side). This is a perfect area to bring your
dog if you have one, as there are generally fewer people.
