3 countries, 7 valleys, 71 glaciers, 400 tops... the fascination of the country of Mont
Blanc.
August 27, 2004. It is 20h and we are nearly 2000 to share the same dream:
making the turn of Mont Blanc in less than two days. Each one of us carefully
prepared during long months. In spite of the disproportion of the race, we are
allright because we know that nearly 500 voluntary take part in the same adventure, ready
to offer with passion their assistance and their comfort in a spirit of division and
friendship. We will live an adventure out of time! With the moonlight, we will
skirt the « Aiguille de Bionnassay » and will cross the « Col du Bonhomme ». To
the raising sun, we will pass the « Col de la Seigne » and will penetrate in Italy in
the magic of the « Val Veni » dominated by the « Noire de Peuterey » and the glaciers
which go down from the Mont Blanc. Later will come the « Val Ferret », kept by the
« Dent du Géant » and the « Grandes Jorasses » before arriving, finally, in
Switzerland and enjoying its carefully preserved environment. It will be necessary
for us to support tiredness, to overcome our doubts and our anguishes. Some
among us, having pushed back their limits to the extreme, will prefer to stop while
keeping whole the hope to buckle the full rotation another time. Their exploit will
be rewarded and recorded in the complete classification of the race. The others,
will cross « Bovine » and the « Tseppes ». Then, faces with the « Aiguille
Verte », the vertical of the « Drus » and the majesty of Mont Blanc, they will descend
to the arrival in the heart of Chamonix.
