Lost Dog itself is an easy, relatively non-technical trail that is about a three
mile there and back to the Taliesin Lookout point. For a much more
difficult (and scenic) run take Lost Dog till it links to the Sunrise trail
which links to the Ringtail trail heading north in a loop back toward Lost Dog
and/or the Taliesin lookout. 5.30 miles with an elevation gain of about 900 feet
according to a watch.
Miscellaneous Information: Bring water year round and be on the
lookout for snakes, scorpions and tarantula. May and June are bee season
but the desert blooms are worth the constant background buzzing. As with
all desert trails in the summer try to be on the trail by 0500 to limit exposure
and wear sunscreen.
