Walker Ranch Loop, Boulder

Directions:  From Denver, take Hwy 36 to Boulder. Exit on Baseline Road and head west (towards the mountains). Continue on Baseline Road, past Chautaqua Park (2 mi. on Left), and follow road up Flagstaff Mountain. A mile or so past the summit is a left turn and parking area for Walker Ranch. A closer parking area, that is sometimes crowded on weekends is at the trail head, 1/4 mile from the turnoff.

Trail Information:  The trail is very popular with mountain bikers, but makes an excellent 7.8 mile run. It is best to start the loop heading south (or left) at the trail head. The trail begins with a gradual uphill, followed by a steep descent to South Boulder Creek. The trail follows the creek for a bit, then heads up steeply again for a short distance. The trail levels out at this point, and the climb back up to original elevation, at the trail head, is more gradual.

Miscellaneous Information:  A dip in the Creek feels good at the half-way point. Take water!
