San Felasco Hammock is a 7,000 acre state preserve located on Millhopper Road, west of
Gainesville. There are two marked trails (one about 5 miles, another about 5 2/3
miles) in the preserve. There are many other unmarked trails as well, so you can go
10-15 miles without retracing your route. The marked trails are blazed, and have
mileage marks on the trees. The "yellow" trail has some fairly hilly
sections. If you run quietly, you will see deer, turkey, bobcats, etc. in the park.
The preserve is part of the Florida state parks system, and requires a $2.00 entry
fee.
