Castlewood State Park, Missouri

Castlewood State Park has several trails all interconnecting that will allow a run of anywhere from 3-whatever, by combining various loops and trails. There are riverside trails, very hilly bluff trails and all are well maintained by the park staff and local mountain bike advocates. Trails have to be shared with mountain bikers, but I have not found any major problems with this. Weekends are pretty crowded with bikes, but early runs are no problem.

Directions: The park is approximately 30 miles from downtown St. Louis. It is about 5 miles west of 270 to Manchester Rd. Then take New Ballwin Rd. south for~3 miles. and turn left onto Kiefer Creek Rd. Park entrance is about 1/2 mile. Ranger information cabin has trail map.
