Directions: Take Highway 8 North from Winston-Salem to Danbury, Then take
a left at Stokes-Reynolds Hospital onto Hanging Rock Park Road. Follow this road into the
park all the way to the top at the lake parking lot. Trail starts in far right hand corner
of parking lot.
Trail Information: A knee-knocking 4.2 miles that can be linked with
other trails for longer loops if you have anything left. Elevation gain from around 1000'
at lake to around 2570' on top of the mtn. Trail starts around the park lake where it is
fairly flat, then begins a steep uphill climb, crosses ridgetop and descends for a
little over a mile back to the lake. "Technical" trail with great views in fall
and winter. No horses, no bikes, just you and lots of rocks...
Miscellaneous Information: Bring water, no water fountains in the
woods...
