Directions: take a right off Rt 124 (coming from Keene) at
the 5 way intersection in Jaffrey. You'll know you turned the right way if you
see the Pizza Barn on the right. Directly after the Pizza Barn is the municipal
parking lot, free use. Park there and walk across the street. Between a large
apartment building and the old RR depot building will be the trailhead on the
right in front of the ball field.
Trail Information: In the very beginning, it is paved but once
you pass the gate it becomes dirt with small gravel stones. It is flat and winds
along the river, even crossing it along the way. You can follow it all the way
to Winchendon MA crossing both Rt 119 and Rt 202 along the way with very little
change in grade, or prior to leaving the Jaffrey section running out on the left
will be side trails that lead you into Children's Woods and or Carey Park. They
are next to the Jaffrey High School, or do an out and back to return to the rail
trail. This section of the trail changes to short climbs of various grades,
single track with roots and rocks, more technical overall, but lots of fun to
accomplish.
Miscellaneous Information: At the very start of the trail next
to the street is a sign with an overlay map, very generalized of the area.
