Alley Pond Nature Trail, Bayside

Directions: FROM THE EAST TAKE THE NORTHERN STATE PARKWAY/GRAND CENTRAL PARKWAY TO THE UNION TURNPIKE EXIT.  MAKE A RIGHT ONTO SPRINGFIELD BLVD.  TURN RIGHT ONTO 75TH AVE AND PARK.  THIS IS THE EASTERN EDGE OF ALLEY PARK.  ON ANY OF THE PATHS START RUNNING EAST (THE ONLY DIRECTION THAT TAKES YOU DEEPER INTO THE PARK).   WHEN YOU REACH THE PARKING LOT NEAREST TO THE GRAND CENTRAL(SOUTHERN BORDER OF THE PARK) THE TRAIL HEAD IS IN THE NORTH EAST CORNER OF THE PARKING LOT.

Trail Information: TRAIL IS MOSTLY SOFT DIRT WITH SHORT STEADY HILLS.   SOME IS WINDY SINGLE TRACK AND SOME HAS BEEN WIDENED BY FOOT TRAFFIC OVER THE YEARS.  IF YOU ALWAYS GO TO YOUR RIGHT YOU WILL CIRCLE THE PORTION OF THE WOODS BETWEEN THE CROSS ISLAND AND SPRINGFIELD BOULEVARD. THE ENTIRE LOOP IS APPROXIMATELY 3.5 MILES.  THIS IS A GREAT WOODLAND RETREAT IN THE HEART OF QUEENS, NY.

Miscellaneous Information: ANY OF THE TRAILS THAT WIND INTO EACH OTHER WILL GENERALLY DUMP YOU OUT INTO THE BALL FIELD/SOCCER FIELD AREA WHERE YOU CAN EASILY TURN AROUND AND RUN THE TRAIL AGAIN OR WALK TO THE CAR FOR A COOLDOWN
