Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx (Riverdale)

Directions:   From the North:  Saw Mill R. Parkway south to Henry Hudson. Exit at Broadway, turn left (south)on Broadway, VC Park and parking (curb) is 0.25 mi. on your left.
From the South/NJ: Henry Hudson Parkway north to Broadway, turn right (south) on Broadway, park and parking is 0.25 mi. on your left.
NYC Subway:  1/9 Train to 242d St/Van Cortlandt Park. 
Hop on the trail anywhere along Broadway/Western edge of the ball fields.

Trail Information: Famous cross-country course has been recently been resurfaced with packed cinders.View of Manhattan skyline from steep Cemetary Hill.   Course is well marked by arrows, but mile-markers are non-existant. Loop course can be 2- 3 miles depending on your route. Hills are challenging and full of the ghosts of past champions and the occassional horse.


Miscellaneous Information: *Water and facilities can be found in the park but not along trail.
*Re-surfaced track in the stadium to the southern end of the park.
*A trail on the far east side of the ball fields , beyond tennis courts, will take you through quiet marsh and north to Tibbetts Brook Park in Yonkers; here you can pick up the bottom portion of the Croton Acqueduct Trail.
