Directions: Approx. 75 mi. south of Okla. City on I-44; H E Bailey Turnpike. Take Medicine Park/HWY 45 Exit. Approx. 10 miles north of Lawton/Ft. Sill
Trail Information: Approx. 10 miles west of Exit 45 off I-44 and you enter the Wildlife Refuge. Pay attention to the speed limit! The Rangers do. Too many blind curves- too many buffalo and longhorns, use the road, too. Stop at first brochure stop. Good maps. Go to Camp Sunset, below Elk Mtn. You can run UP! this trail and back! Or follow the trail past the little dam and toilets. You will enter the Charons Garden Wilderness Area. (Overnight camping by reservation ONLY, in this area. Pure pack it in and out stuff)
Miscellaneous Information: Stream crossings; loose granite gravel; packed dirt; roots; wildlife abounds, especially early mornings and late evenings. Summers can be brutal. Carry water.
