Directions: Take Merlin-Galice Road from Hwy 5 Exit 61 (3 miles north
of Grants Pass) for approx 11 miles to first left past Indian Mary Park and go approx 7
miles to large dirt parking lot on left side.
Trail Information: From this point there are over 30 plus miles of single
track trails that go thru forests, along creeks and crossing over a few of them and up and
down some steep mountain sides to ridge tops with nice views of the Siskiyou and Klamath
Mountains. My favorite training run is The Minnow Creek Trail that branches off the main
Taylor Creek trail about 2-3 miles north of the parking lot trail head. It starts at an
elevation of 1,500 feet and climbs up to a Forest Service Fire lookout at 4,450 feet. It
is very steep and rocky at times. You will have an awesome 360 degree view of mountains as
far as the eye can see.
Miscellaneous Information: These trails are open all year round. In the
middle of winter there will be some snow above the 3,500 foot mark, but must of the trails
are snow free and runnable year round and running thru a little snow makes for a good
workout.
