Directions: I180 traffic take the RT 87 exit in Montoursville (
a few miles east of Williamsport) North on 87 aprx 35 miles to RT 154 in
Forksville. Right on 154 two miles to Worlds End State Park. Park near the
concession stand. Facing the concession stand, go right to the bridge that goes
to the cabins. Trail start on the right just before the bridge.
Trail Information: This run is 17 miles. It follows the Link
Trail for 8 miles. Watch the blazes, A red X over a yellow class. Watch
markers for the first 3 miles because of other crossing trails. At the old iron
bridge the Link Trail ends. Go across the bridge and follow the Loyalsock Trail
back to the park. The marker are now a yellow LT on a red class and newer
long red blaze with a yellow horizontal line in the middle. (The LT was crossed
twice before just after starting but don't pick up until the iron bridge). Trail
is mostly rolling, only two long uphills. From the start to finish you
will see: Loyalsock Creek, waterfalls along Double Run, Canyon Vista, two miles
along the Loyalsock again, Sones Pond, Alpine Falls, Kens Window, The beaver
dams, old Railroad beds, a long decent back to the the bridge where you started
with another view of the park on the way down. I would say this is a moderate
run. I use it to practice for the Escarpment run in NY and the JFK 50 in Md.
Miscellaneous Information: Lots of restaurants and hotel within two miles
of the I180 & 87 interchange in Montoursville. Scattered restaurant near the
park in rural Sullivan County. Plenty of water along the way. All the trail is
on state forest land.
