Directions: From I-35 take HWY 190 West to the FM 2410 exit
(south-Harker Heights). Turn right on to Comanche Gap Road and travel until you
see the entrance to Dana Peak Park. You can park at a cul-de-sac prior to the
fee area or pay $2 to enter the park. The trails are accessible either
way.
Trail Information: The trail can be accessed from several points.
The most popular is the trailhead located 1KM prior to the fee gate. From
the trailhead follow the trail uphill for 1/2 mile. The trail will branch
into several directions enabling you to customize the lengths of your run.
The distances range from 2-6 miles. There is no trail map but the open
terrain and prominent terrain features make it easy to navigate. The trail
is well groomed but can become very muddy in the meadow area after a good rain.
The trail intersects with the Dana Peak Park swimming area. Many runners
opt to conduct a run-swim-run. One length of the swim area is roughly 150m
and provides a little variety. There is a water stop located by the
restrooms by the swimming area.
Miscellaneous Information: Spring and Fall are the best times time to run
this trail.
