Directions: Take I-10 north to 1604 then west on 1604
to Culebra. At Culebra go right to Galm rd. Again turn right on Galm and the
park is down about 1-2 miles on the left.
Trail Information: First off this is a government park and they
do charge admission $6 per person or you can buy a $60 yearly membership and
take an entire carload each time. There are 43 miles of off road trails there
that meander up through the hill country and cover over 8000 acres. Most are
very rocky and several are quite challenging. The views from the tops of the
peaks are well worth the work you will put forth to get up there. The scenery is
second to none in the area. There is potable water at the trail heads as well as
facilities but not on the trails in the back country so pack some water in.
The staff are very safety conscious and they provide you with a number to call
in case you get into trouble.
Miscellaneous Information: This is, in my opinion, the best
trail run in the San Antonio area. I think I have tried them all!
