Directions: From Richmond, Route 60 West to Route 622 North,(50 miles) From Charlottesville, Route 15 South to Route 622 (30 miles) From Lynchburg, Route 60 East to Route 622 (60 miles) all to best trailhead in Bear Creek Lake State Park
Trail Information: Trail is about 16 miles long through Cumberland State Forest and Bear Creek Lake State Park. 90% single track, 10% forest road (virtually no hard paved road). Most of trail is through mature hardwood forest with 1/2 dozen shallow creek crossings. Trail has white blazes but can be tricky to follow in areas. Trail maps available at Park Office.
Miscellaneous Information: Two trail races held annually - the Bear Creek 10 Mile on the first weekend (Sunday) in December and the "Swinging Bridge 35K & 50K" held on the 3rd Saturday in January. Both events have been held for 7 years.
