Directions: From Fayetteville take Salem-Gatewood Rd. to the New River
Gorge Access at Cunard (NPS). The trail head is located at the top of the Gorge. Parking
lot will be on the right. Trailhead is 100yds back on the left(as you drove in). The other
end of the trail can be found on Fayette Station Rd. Drive across the New River Gorge
Bridge(US Rt. 19N). Turn right at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center and follow the road down
and across the New River again. As you drive up the other side of the river the trailhead
will be on your right approximately 1.5 miles from the river.
Trail Information: Mainly single track. Follows the contour lines of the
Gorge. At times you will get spectacular views of the New River 1000' below, and at other
times you will be hidden in the woods. Trail conditions are hardpacked earth with some
creek crossings (due to flood of '01).
Miscellaneous Information: Great restuarants in Fayetteville, Catherdral
Cafe for breakfast & lunch(dinner in the summer) and Canyon Door for dinner year
round. Great whitewater in the area as well. New, Gauley, Meadow rivers.
